Biography for Nina Langhorn, LSW

Nina Langhorn MSW, LSW, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Rutgers University-New Brunswick. During her studies, she completed an additional graduate-level certificate in Interpersonal Violence and Trauma. Nina is a Licensed Social Worker currently working under a licensed clinical social worker at the Institute to acquire the necessary supervised hours to receive her clinical license.

Nina’s background includes providing care in the outpatient community mental health setting, adventure behavioral therapy, intensive-in-home therapy, as well as inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. Although Nina has experience working with children and youth, she is especially passionate about assisting older adolescents and adults of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ identities work through trauma, anxiety, grief and loss, insomnia, as well as life transitions. Nina frequently utilizes frameworks such as systems theory and trauma-informed care to guide treatment and incorporates interventions rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. She strives to create a safe therapeutic environment for all of her clients that is free from shame and judgment.

Nina’s experience with travel and global volunteerism has positively impacted her work and commitment to bettering individuals and communities through compassion and cultural humility. During her graduate training, she traveled to Antigua, Guatemala as well as Kathmandu, Nepal, and worked with local non-profit organizations to encourage the psychosocial development of women and girls. Nina hopes to continue to empower her clients toward an abundant future by pursuing clinical training in financial trauma therapy. Nina is currently under the supervision of Desiree Ramos, LCSW.
