Marisa Bonamassa-Cimino MA, LAC, NCC, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgian Court University. She is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with experience in assisting both youth and adults grappling with mental health and substance abuse challenges. Her background includes roles in community mental health, outpatient settings, and higher education where she adeptly conducts both individual and group therapy sessions.
Marisa specializes in several areas including working with college students/young adults, marginalized communities, individuals of color, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, individuals facing familial issues, and survivors of trauma and abuse. She is also well-versed in addressing anxiety and stress management, depression and mood disorders, post-traumatic stress, as well as self-esteem and personal development concerns.
Marisa embraces a client-centered, holistic therapeutic approach, tailoring her methods to meet each individual's unique needs. She strives to foster an environment of unconditional positive regard and non-judgment where clients can openly explore their thoughts and emotions. Drawing from an array of techniques, including cognitive-behavioral, trauma-informed, solution-focused, and mindfulness-based approaches, she engages in a collaborative process with her clients to formulate purposeful and fitting treatment objectives. Through this partnership she instills a sense of empowerment, enabling clients to cultivate resilience and strength.
