Sofya Andemicael-Mayevskiy, BS, MPH, MSW, LSW, is a Licensed Social Worker with graduate degrees from the SUNY Albany School of Public Health and Simmons School of Social Work. She completed her undergraduate degree in public health at Rutgers New Brunswick. Currently, Sofya is gaining supervised experience under a Licensed Clinical Social Worker to fulfill the required hours for obtaining her LCSW.
Throughout her career, Sofya has gained extensive experience in diverse clinical settings, including intensive in-community counseling and trauma-informed therapy. She has worked with a broad range of individuals, including children, adolescents, young adults, and those affected by domestic violence, PTSD, substance abuse, ADHD, autism, and grief. SAM is also preparing to pursue certifications in the Gottman Method for couples and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to further enhance her expertise.
Sofya’s approach to therapy is rooted in authenticity, intersectionality, and a deep understanding of each person’s unique story. She uses an integrative style that combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, trauma-informed care, and holistic approaches. Sofya’s goal is to help clients build internal confidence, empowering them to make healthier, more informed choices and navigate life’s challenges with clarity and strength. Through a strengths-based approach, Sofya supports clients in developing the necessary skills to overcome obstacles and achieve lasting, positive change. Sofya is committed to providing a safe, welcoming space for her clients, ensuring that their therapeutic journey is nurtured with kindness and professionalism. She is under the supervision of Desiree Ramos, LCSW.
