Zavel Philip, LPC, LCADC is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice with a minor in Counseling. Her Master of Education degree in Psychological Counseling was obtained from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2013. After graduating from Teachers College, she attended the Multicultural Family Institute for one year of family systems training.
Zavel uses a strength-based, client-centered, collaborative, and holistic approach that considers the person’s mind, body, spirit and worldview. These approaches, coupled with her strong ability to develop effective therapeutic alliances with her clients, enhance her clinical abilities, especially when working with multicultural, diverse, adolescent and adult clients. She specializes in working with a myriad of issues including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, adolescent development, transition issues, grief, attachment, relationship dynamics, and family systems. Zavel views the therapeutic relationship as an opportunity to help the client grow in all aspects of their life and heal from any pain or trauma that they have endured. As a foundation for all of her work, Zavel fosters a safe, warm, non-judgmental environment that enables the client to feel empowered and supported in their journey towards healing and achieving their future goals.
