Zakia Clay, LCSW
Zakia Clay, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned her Masters and Doctorate degrees in Social Work from Rutgers University. In addition, she completed her undergraduate studies at Kean University and obtained a Dual Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Psychiatric Rehabilitation. Zakia also holds a certificate in Clinical Supervision, Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI),
and Psychiatric Rehabilitation.
For much of her career, Zakia has worked in community mental health with adults living with mental illnesses. Her practice specialties include, but are not limited to, working with individuals diagnosed with anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. She uses integrative therapeutic approaches that often include cognitive behavioral techniques and strength-based models to help individuals move towards making positive changes in their lives. Zakia also provides consultative services related to service delivery, policy, and policy implementation. In addition, she teaches both mental health providers and MSW students. Some of the topics include holistic approaches to improve well-being, social skills training, cognitive behavioral techniques, and clinical social work practice.
